¹⁷ Therefore the Lord does ^(A)not rejoice over their young men,
^(B)Nor does He have compassion on their ^[a]orphans or their widows;
For every one of them is ^(C)godless and an ^(D)evildoer,
And every ^(E)mouth is speaking foolishness.
^(F)In spite of all this, His anger does not turn away,
And His hand is still stretched out.

¹⁹ By the ^(A)wrath of the Lord of armies the ^(B)land is burned,
And the ^(C)people are like fuel for the fire;
No ^(D)one spares his brother.

²¹ Manasseh devours Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasseh,
^(A)And together they are against Judah.
^(B)In spite of all this, His anger does not turn away
And His hand is still stretched out.
