Isaiah 9:6-8
New Catholic Bible
6 His dominion will grow continually,
and there will be endless peace
bestowed on David’s throne
and over his kingdom.
He will establish and sustain it
with justice and integrity
from this time onward and forevermore;
the zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.
Fall of the Northern Kingdom
7 The Lord has sent forth his word against Jacob,
and it has fallen on Israel.
8 [a]All the people were aware of this,
Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria,
but they said in their arrogance and pride of heart,

New International Version
6 For to us a child is born,(A)
to us a son is given,(B)
and the government(C) will be on his shoulders.(D)
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor,(E) Mighty God,(F)
Everlasting(G) Father,(H) Prince of Peace.(I)
7 Of the greatness of his government(J) and peace(K)
there will be no end.(L)
He will reign(M) on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice(N) and righteousness(O)
from that time on and forever.(P)
The zeal(Q) of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.
The Lord’s Anger Against Israel
8 The Lord has sent a message(R) against Jacob;
it will fall on Israel.
