16 “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight. Stop doing evil, 17 Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor, Obtain justice for the orphan, Plead for the widow’s case.
Invitation to Debate
18 “Come now, and let us [a]debate your case,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, They shall become as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be like wool. 19 If you are willing and obedient, You will eat the best of the land;
3 Perhaps the house of Judah will listen to all the disaster which I plan to carry out against them, so that every person will turn from his evil way; then I will forgive their wrongdoing and their sin.”
4 Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah, and Baruch wrote on a [a]scroll [b]at the dictation of Jeremiah all the words of the Lord which He had spoken to him.5 Jeremiah then commanded Baruch, saying, “I am [c]restricted; I cannot go into the house of the Lord.6 So you go and read from the scroll, which you have written [d]at my dictation, the words of the Lord[e]to the people at the Lord’s house on a day of fasting. And you shall also read them [f]to all the people of Judah who come from their cities.7 Perhaps their pleading will [g]come before the Lord, and everyone will turn from his evil way; for great is the anger and the wrath that the Lord has pronounced against this people.”
