^3 (A)The ox knows its owner
And the donkey its master’s ^[a]crib;
But Israel ^(B)does not know,
My people do not ^[b]consider.”

¹¹ When its boughs are withered, they will be broken off;
The women come and set them on fire.
For ^(A)it is a people of no understanding;
Therefore He who made them will ^(B)not have mercy on them,
And ^(C)He who formed them will show them no favor.

⁸ The priests did not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’
And those who handle the ^(A)law did not know Me;
The rulers also transgressed against Me;
^(B)The prophets prophesied by Baal,
And walked after things that do not profit.

⁶ For I desire ^(A)mercy^[a] and ^(B)not sacrifice,
And the ^(C)knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
