³¹ The strong man will become like ^[a]flax fiber,
And his work a spark.
So they shall both ^(A)burn together
And there will be ^(B)no one to extinguish them.

²⁴ Therefore, ^(A)as a tongue of fire consumes stubble,
And dry grass collapses in the flame,
So their ^(B)root will become ^(C)like rot, and their blossom ^[a]blow away like dust;
For they have ^(D)rejected the Law of the Lord of armies,
And discarded the word of the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁹ By the ^(A)wrath of the Lord of armies the ^(B)land is burned,
And the ^(C)people are like fuel for the fire;
No ^(D)one spares his brother.
