A Pronouncement against Tyre

23 A pronouncement^(A) concerning Tyre:^(B)

³⁶ Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus by birth, the one the apostles called Barnabas (which is translated Son of Encouragement),^(A)

The Church in Antioch

¹⁹ Now those who had been scattered as a result of the persecution that started because of Stephen made their way as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch,^(A) speaking the word to no one except Jews. ²⁰ But there were some of them, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks^[a] also, proclaiming the good news about the Lord Jesus.^(B)

The Mission to Cyprus

⁴ So being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus.

³⁹ They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company, and Barnabas took Mark^(A) with him and sailed off to Cyprus.

³ After we sighted Cyprus, passing to the south of it,^[a] we sailed on to Syria and arrived at Tyre, since the ship was to unload its cargo there.

¹⁶ Some of the disciples from Caesarea also went with us and brought us to Mnason of Cyprus, an early disciple, with whom we were to stay.^(A)

⁴ When we had put out to sea from there, we sailed along the northern coast^[a] of Cyprus because the winds were against us.
