¹⁶ Therefore this is what the Lord ^[a]God says:

³² Why? Because they did not pursue it ^[a]by faith, but as though they could ^[b]by works. They stumbled over ^(A)the stumbling stone,

³³ just as it is written:

¹¹ For the Scripture says, “^(A)Whoever believes in Him will not be ^[a]put to shame.”

⁸ and,

^(B)for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, ^(C)and to this they were also appointed.
