² “Speak tenderly to^[a] Jerusalem,
and announce to her
that her time of forced labor is over,
her iniquity^(A) has been pardoned,^(B)
and she has received from the Lord’s hand
double for all her sins.”^(C)

¹⁸ Let my persecutors be put to shame,^(A)
but don’t let me be put to shame.
Let them be terrified, but don’t let me be terrified.
Bring on them the day of disaster;^(B)
shatter them with total^[a] destruction.
