Isaiah’s Commission

6 In the year that King Uzziah^(A) died,^(B) I saw the Lord,^(C) high and exalted,^(D) seated on a throne;^(E) and the train of his robe^(F) filled the temple.

Ezekiel 1:26-28

New International Version

²⁶Above the vault over their heads was what looked like a throne^(A) of lapis lazuli,^(B) and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man.^(C) ²⁷I saw that from what appeared to be his waist up he looked like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and that from there down he looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded him.^(D) ²⁸Like the appearance of a rainbow^(E) in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him.^(F)

This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory^(G) of the Lord. When I saw it, I fell facedown,^(H) and I heard the voice of one speaking.

⁹“As I looked,

“thrones were set in place,
    and the Ancient of Days^(A) took his seat.^(B)
His clothing was as white as snow;^(C)
    the hair of his head was white like wool.^(D)
His throne was flaming with fire,
    and its wheels^(E) were all ablaze.
¹⁰A river of fire^(F) was flowing,
    coming out from before him.^(G)
Thousands upon thousands attended him;
    ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him.
The court was seated,
