‘Keep on ^(A)listening, but do not understand;
And keep on looking, but do not gain knowledge.’

Their ears ^[b]dull,
And their eyes ^[c]blind,
^(D)So that they will not see with their eyes,
Hear with their ears,
Understand with their hearts,
And return and be healed.”

“Until ^(F)cities are devastated and without inhabitant,
Houses are without people
And the land is utterly desolate,
¹² The Lord has ^(G)completely removed people,
And there ^[d]are many ^(H)forsaken places in the midst of the land.
¹³ Yet there will still be a tenth portion in it,
And it will again be subject to burning,
Like a terebinth or an ^(I)oak
Whose stump remains when it is cut down.
The ^(J)holy seed is its stump.”

⁸ Bring out the people who are ^(A)blind, even though they have eyes,
And those who are deaf, even though they have ears.

²¹ ‘Now hear this, you foolish and ^[a]senseless people,
Who have ^(A)eyes but do not see,
Who have ears but do not hear.

‘^[b](A)You shall keep on listening, ^[c]but shall not understand;
And ^[d]you shall keep on looking, ^[e]but shall not perceive;

“^(A)God gave them a spirit of stupor,
Eyes to see not and ears to hear not,
Down to this very day.”
