10 (A)I will greatly rejoice in the Lord,
My soul shall be joyful in my God;
For (B)He has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
(C)As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
11 For as the earth brings forth its bud,
As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth,
So the Lord God will cause (D)righteousness and (E)praise to spring forth before all the nations.

Assurance of Zion’s Salvation

62 For Zion’s sake I will not [a]hold My peace,
And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest,
Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness,
And her salvation as a lamp that burns.
(F)The Gentiles shall see your righteousness,
And all (G)kings your glory.
(H)You shall be called by a new name,
Which the mouth of the Lord will name.
You shall also be (I)a crown of glory
In the hand of the Lord,
And a royal diadem
In the hand of your God.

Praise to the Lord from Creation

148 Praise[a] the Lord!

Praise the Lord from the heavens;
Praise Him in the heights!
Praise Him, all His angels;
Praise Him, all His hosts!
Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all you stars of light!
Praise Him, (A)you heavens of heavens,
And (B)you waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For (C)He commanded and they were created.
(D)He also established them forever and ever;
He made a decree which shall not pass away.

Praise the Lord from the earth,
(E)You great sea creatures and all the depths;
Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
(F)Mountains and all hills;
Fruitful trees and all cedars;
10 Beasts and all cattle;
Creeping things and flying fowl;
11 Kings of the earth and all peoples;
Princes and all judges of the earth;
12 Both young men and maidens;
Old men and children.

13 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For His (G)name alone is exalted;
His glory is above the earth and heaven.
14 And He (H)has exalted the [b]horn of His people,
The praise of (I)all His saints—
Of the children of Israel,
(J)A people near to Him.

[c]Praise the Lord!

But (A)when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, (B)born[a] (C)of a woman, (D)born under the law, (E)to redeem those who were under the law, (F)that we might receive the adoption as sons.

And because you are sons, God has sent forth (G)the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, [b]“Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, (H)and if a son, then an heir [c]of God [d]through Christ.

Jesus Presented in the Temple

22 Now when (A)the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were completed, they brought Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord 23 (B)(as it is written in the law of the Lord, (C)“Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord), 24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of the Lord, (D)“A pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.”

Simeon Sees God’s Salvation

25 And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, (E)waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not (F)see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 27 So he came (G)by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, 28 he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said:

29 “Lord, (H)now You are letting Your servant depart in peace,
According to Your word;
30 For my eyes (I)have seen Your salvation
31 Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples,
32 (J)A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles,
And the glory of Your people Israel.”

33 [a]And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him. 34 Then Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is destined for the (K)fall and rising of many in Israel, and for (L)a sign which will be spoken against 35 (yes, (M)a sword will pierce through your own soul also), that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

Anna Bears Witness to the Redeemer

36 Now there was one, Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of (N)Asher. She was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity; 37 and this woman was a widow [b]of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers (O)night and day. 38 And coming in that instant she gave thanks to [c]the Lord, and spoke of Him to all those who (P)looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

The Family Returns to Nazareth

39 So when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth. 40 (Q)And the Child grew and became strong [d]in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.
