²³ And it will come about on that day, ^(A)that every place where there used to be a thousand vines, valued at a thousand shekels of silver, will become ^(B)briars and thorns. ²⁴ People will come there with bows and arrows, because all the land will be briars and thorns.

⁹ behold, I will ^(A)send and take all the families of the north,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, ^(B)My servant, and will bring them against this land and against its inhabitants and against all these surrounding nations; and I will ^[a]completely destroy them and ^(C)make them an object of horror and ^[b]hissing, and an everlasting place of ruins.

³ therefore prophesy and say, ‘This is what the Lord God says: “^[a]For good reason they have made you ^(A)desolate and harassed you from every side, so that you would become a possession of the rest of the nations; and you have been taken up in the ^[b](B)talk and the rumor of the people.”’”
