James 2:13-18
New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition
13 For judgment will be without mercy to anyone who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.(A)
Faith without Works Is Dead
14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but does not have works? Surely that faith cannot save, can it?(B) 15 If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food(C) 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,” and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? 17 So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from works, and I by my works will show you faith.(D)

Faith and Deeds
14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds?(B) Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.(C) 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?(D) 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.(E)
18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds,(F) and I will show you my faith(G) by my deeds.(H)
James 2:13-18
King James Version
13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
