¹³For judgment will be without mercy to anyone who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.

Faith without Works Is Dead

¹⁴What good is it, my brothers and sisters,^[a] if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save you? ¹⁵If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, ¹⁶and one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,” and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? ¹⁷So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.

¹⁸But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith.

⁸The Lord is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
⁹The Lord is good to all,
and his compassion is over all that he has made.

¹⁰All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord,
    and all your faithful shall bless you.
¹¹They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom,
    and tell of your power,
¹²to make known to all people your^[a] mighty deeds,
    and the glorious splendor of your^[b] kingdom.
¹³Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
    and your dominion endures throughout all generations.

The Lord is faithful in all his words,
and gracious in all his deeds.^[c]
¹⁴The Lord upholds all who are falling,
and raises up all who are bowed down.
