5 Or do you think that the Scripture (A)says to no purpose, “[a]He [b]jealously desires (B)the Spirit whom He has made to dwell in us”? 6 But (C)He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “(D)God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 7 (E)Submit therefore to God. But [c](F)resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us[a]?(A) 6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil,(C) and he will flee from you.
