    they go to the cisterns

    dismayed and despairing,

¹¹ Despair, you farmers,^(A)
    wail, you vine growers;
grieve for the wheat and the barley,^(B)
    because the harvest of the field is destroyed.^(C)

⁸ People staggered from town to town for water^(A)
    but did not get enough^(B) to drink,
    yet you have not returned^(C) to me,”
declares the Lord.^(D)
