If you really do as I have commanded, then David's descendants will continue to be kings. And they, together with their officials and their people, will continue to pass through the gates of this palace in chariots and on horses. (A)But if you do not obey my commands, then I swear to you that this palace will fall into ruins. I, the Lord, have spoken.

“To me, Judah's royal palace is as beautiful as the land of Gilead and as the Lebanon Mountains; but I will make it a desolate place where no one lives.

For if you are careful to carry out these commands, then kings(A) who sit on David’s throne will come through the gates of this palace, riding in chariots and on horses, accompanied by their officials and their people. But if you do not obey(B) these commands, declares the Lord, I swear(C) by myself that this palace will become a ruin.’”

For this is what the Lord says about the palace of the king of Judah:

“Though you are like Gilead(D) to me,
    like the summit of Lebanon,(E)
I will surely make you like a wasteland,(F)
    like towns not inhabited.
