¹⁷Do not listen^(A) to them. Serve the king of Babylon, and you will live.^(B) Why should this city become a ruin?

¹²All your fortresses are like fig trees
with first-ripe figs—
if shaken they fall
into the mouth of the eater.^(A)

¹²All your fortresses are like fig trees
with their first ripe fruit;^(A)
when they are shaken,
the figs^(B) fall into the mouth of the eater.
