Jeremiah 31:28-30

28 And it shall come to pass that (A)as I have watched over them (B)to pluck up and break down, to overthrow, destroy, and bring harm, (C)so I will watch over them (D)to build and to plant, declares the Lord. 29 In those days they shall no longer say:

(E)“‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes,
    and the children's teeth are set on edge.’

30 (F)But everyone shall die for his own sin. Each man who eats sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge.

28 Just as I watched(A) over them to uproot(B) and tear down, and to overthrow, destroy and bring disaster,(C) so I will watch over them to build and to plant,”(D) declares the Lord. 29 “In those days people will no longer say,

‘The parents(E) have eaten sour grapes,
    and the children’s teeth are set on edge.’(F)

30 Instead, everyone will die for their own sin;(G) whoever eats sour grapes—their own teeth will be set on edge.
