38 They will be my people and I will be their God. 39 I will make them all want to do one thing. They will want to live in a way that always pleases me. They will do that so that they enjoy good lives and their children also enjoy good lives after them. 40 I will make a covenant with them that will continue for ever. I will promise always to do good things for them. They will want to respect me and obey me so that they never turn away from me again. That is what I will do for them.

38 They will be my people,(A) and I will be their God. 39 I will give them singleness(B) of heart and action, so that they will always fear(C) me and that all will then go well for them and for their children after them. 40 I will make an everlasting covenant(D) with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire(E) them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me.(F)
