12 Jeremiah set out from Jerusalem to go to (A)the land of Benjamin (B)to receive his portion there (C)among the people. 13 When he was at (D)the Benjamin Gate, a sentry there named Irijah the son of (E)Shelemiah, son of Hananiah, seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying, (F)“You are deserting to the Chaldeans.” 14 And Jeremiah said, “It is a lie; I am not deserting to the Chaldeans.” But Irijah would not listen to him, and seized Jeremiah and brought him to (G)the officials.

12 Jeremiah started to leave the city to go to the territory of Benjamin to get his share of the property(A) among the people there. 13 But when he reached the Benjamin Gate,(B) the captain of the guard, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, arrested him and said, “You are deserting to the Babylonians!”(C)
14 “That’s not true!” Jeremiah said. “I am not deserting to the Babylonians.” But Irijah would not listen to him; instead, he arrested(D) Jeremiah and brought him to the officials.
