5 Meanwhile, (A)Pharaoh’s army had set out from Egypt; and when the Chaldeans who had been besieging Jerusalem heard the report about them, they (B)withdrew from Jerusalem.
6 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet, saying, 7 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: ‘(C)This is what you are to say to the king of Judah, who sent you to Me to inquire of Me: “Behold, (D)Pharaoh’s army, which has come out to help you, is going to return to its own land of Egypt. 8 Then the Chaldeans will (E)return and fight against this city, and they will capture it and burn it with fire.”’ 9 This is what the Lord says: ‘Do not (F)deceive yourselves, saying, “The Chaldeans will certainly go away from us,” for they will not go. 10 For (G)even if you had defeated the entire army of Chaldeans who were fighting against you, and there were only wounded men left among them, each man in his tent, they would rise up and (H)burn this city with fire.’”

5 Pharaoh’s army had marched out of Egypt,(A) and when the Babylonians[a] who were besieging Jerusalem heard the report about them, they withdrew(B) from Jerusalem.(C)
6 Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet: 7 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Tell the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire(D) of me, ‘Pharaoh’s army, which has marched(E) out to support you, will go back to its own land, to Egypt.(F) 8 Then the Babylonians will return and attack this city; they will capture(G) it and burn(H) it down.’
9 “This is what the Lord says: Do not deceive(I) yourselves, thinking, ‘The Babylonians will surely leave us.’ They will not! 10 Even if you were to defeat the entire Babylonian[b] army that is attacking you and only wounded men were left in their tents, they would come out and burn(J) this city down.”
11 After the Babylonian army had withdrawn(K) from Jerusalem because of Pharaoh’s army,
