The king of Babylon made Zedekiah watch as they killed his children and all the nobles of Judah. Then he gouged out Zedekiah’s eyes and bound him in chains to send him away to Babylon as a slave.

Meanwhile the army burned Jerusalem, including the palace, and tore down the walls of the city.

There at Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes and also killed all the nobles(A) of Judah. Then he put out Zedekiah’s eyes(B) and bound him with bronze shackles to take him to Babylon.(C)

The Babylonians[a] set fire(D) to the royal palace and the houses of the people and broke down the walls(E) of Jerusalem.
