15 But Ish′mael the son of Nethani′ah escaped from Joha′nan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites. 16 Then Joha′nan the son of Kare′ah and all the leaders of the forces with him took all the rest of the people whom Ish′mael the son of Nethani′ah had carried away captive[a] from Mizpah after he had slain Gedali′ah the son of Ahi′kam—soldiers, women, children, and eunuchs, whom Joha′nan brought back from Gib′eon. 17 And they went and stayed at Geruth Chimham near Bethlehem, intending to go to Egypt

15 But Ishmael son of Nethaniah and eight of his men escaped(A) from Johanan and fled to the Ammonites.
Flight to Egypt
16 Then Johanan son of Kareah and all the army officers(B) who were with him led away all the people of Mizpah who had survived,(C) whom Johanan had recovered from Ishmael son of Nethaniah after Ishmael had assassinated Gedaliah son of Ahikam—the soldiers, women, children and court officials he had recovered from Gibeon. 17 And they went on, stopping at Geruth Kimham(D) near Bethlehem(E) on their way to Egypt(F)
