Forsooth in the second day (And on the second day), after that he had slain Gedaliah, (but) while no man knew (it) yet,

fourscore men with shaven beards, and rent clothes, and pale men, came from Shechem, and from Shiloh, and from Samaria; and they had gifts and incense in the hand, for to offer in the house of the Lord. The day after Gedaliah’s assassination, before anyone knew about it, eighty men who had shaved off their beards,(A) torn their clothes(B) and cut(C) themselves came from Shechem,(D) Shiloh(E) and Samaria,(F) bringing grain offerings and incense(G) with them to the house of the Lord.(H) Ishmael son of Nethaniah went out from Mizpah to meet them, weeping(I) as he went. And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.
