27 I am going to watch over them. I am going to watch over them to bring disasters, not blessings. In Egypt the people from Judah will die in wars and famines until everyone is gone. 28 Those who escape the wars will return to Judah from Egypt. Then all the people of Judah who went to live in Egypt will know whose words have come true, mine or theirs. 29 I will give you this sign,’ declares Yahweh. ‘I will punish you in this place so that you will know that my threats of disaster will happen to you.

27 For I am watching(A) over them for harm,(B) not for good; the Jews in Egypt will perish(C) by sword and famine(D) until they are all destroyed.(E) 28 Those who escape the sword(F) and return to the land of Judah from Egypt will be very few.(G) Then the whole remnant(H) of Judah who came to live in Egypt will know whose word will stand(I)—mine or theirs.(J)
29 “‘This will be the sign(K) to you that I will punish(L) you in this place,’ declares the Lord, ‘so that you will know that my threats of harm against you will surely stand.’(M)
