26 I will hand them over to those who seek their lives, to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and his officers.

But afterward Egypt will be inhabited as in former days, declares the Lord.

27 But do not be afraid, my servant Jacob.
Do not be terrified, Israel,
because I will save you from a faraway place,
and I will rescue your descendants from the land where
        they are captives.
Jacob will return.
He will enjoy quiet and be at ease,
and no one will make him afraid.
28 Do not be afraid, my servant Jacob, declares the Lord,
for I am with you.
I will completely destroy all the nations
    among which I have scattered you,
but I will not completely destroy you.
I will discipline you with justice,
and I will not regard you as entirely innocent.

    do not be dismayed, Israel.
I will surely save you out of a distant place,
    your descendants from the land of their exile.(G)
Jacob will again have peace and security,
    and no one will make him afraid.
28 Do not be afraid, Jacob my servant,
    for I am with you,”(H) declares the Lord.
“Though I completely destroy(I) all the nations
    among which I scatter you,
    I will not completely destroy you.
I will discipline you but only in due measure;
    I will not let you go entirely unpunished.”
