³⁷^(A)“For every head is shaved and every beard cut off. ^(B)On all the hands are gashes, and ^(C)around the waist is sackcloth.

New International Version

³⁷Every head is shaved^(A)
and every beard^(B) cut off;
every hand is slashed
and every waist is covered with sackcloth.^(C)

⁸For this ^(A)put on sackcloth,
lament and wail,
for ^(B)the fierce anger of the Lord
has not turned back from us.”

⁸So put on sackcloth,^(A)
lament^(B) and wail,
for the fierce anger^(C) of the Lord
has not turned away from us.
