37 (A)For every head shall be [a]bald, and every beard plucked: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.
38 And mourning shall be upon all the house tops of Moab, and in all the streets thereof: for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, saith the Lord.
39 They shall howl, saying, How is he destroyed? how hath Moab turned the back with shame? so shall Moab be a derision, and a fear to all them about him.

37 Every head is shaved(A)
and every beard(B) cut off;
every hand is slashed
and every waist is covered with sackcloth.(C)
38 On all the roofs in Moab
and in the public squares(D)
there is nothing but mourning,
for I have broken Moab
like a jar(E) that no one wants,”
declares the Lord.
39 “How shattered(F) she is! How they wail!
How Moab turns her back in shame!
Moab has become an object of ridicule,(G)
an object of horror to all those around her.”
