45 “In the shadow of Heshbon
Those who flee stand without strength;
For a fire has gone forth from Heshbon
And a (A)flame from the midst of (B)Sihon,
And it has devoured the (C)top of the head of Moab
And the scalps of [a]those who rumble.
46 (D)Woe to you, Moab!
The people of (E)Chemosh have perished;
For your sons have been taken away captive
And your daughters into captivity.
47 Yet I will [b](F)return the [c]fortunes of Moab
In the last days,” declares Yahweh.
Thus far the judgment on Moab.

the fugitives stand helpless,
for a fire has gone out from Heshbon,
a blaze from the midst of Sihon;(A)
it burns the foreheads of Moab,
the skulls(B) of the noisy boasters.
46 Woe to you, Moab!(C)
The people of Chemosh are destroyed;
your sons are taken into exile
and your daughters into captivity.
47 “Yet I will restore(D) the fortunes of Moab
in days to come,”
declares the Lord.
