¹² They have lied^(A) about the Lord;
    they said, “He will do nothing!
No harm will come to us;^(B)
    we will never see sword or famine.^(C)
13 The prophets^(D) are but wind^(E)
    and the word is not in them;
    so let what they say be done to them.”

¹³ “From the least to the greatest,
    all^(A) are greedy for gain;^(B)
prophets and priests alike,
    all practice deceit.^(C)
14 They dress the wound of my people
    as though it were not serious.
‘Peace, peace,’ they say,
    when there is no peace.^(D)
15 Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct?
    No, they have no shame at all;
    they do not even know how to blush.^(E)
So they will fall among the fallen;
    they will be brought down when I punish^(F) them,”
says the Lord.

¹¹ If a liar and deceiver^(A) comes and says,
    ‘I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,’^(B)
    that would be just the prophet for this people!^(C)
