41 How Sheshach has been captured,
the praise(A) of the whole earth seized.
What a horror Babylon has become
among the nations!(B)
42 The sea has risen over Babylon;(C)
she is covered with its turbulent waves.
43 Her cities have become a desolation,(D)
a dry and arid land,
a land where no one lives,
where no human being passes through.

How desolate(C) Babylon will be
among the nations!
42 The sea will rise over Babylon;
its roaring waves(D) will cover her.
43 Her towns will be desolate,
a dry and desert(E) land,
a land where no one lives,
through which no one travels.(F)
