Zedekiah did what Yahweh considered evil, as Jehoiakim had done. Yahweh became angry with Jerusalem and Judah and threw the people out of his sight.

Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon. On the tenth day of the tenth month of the ninth year of Zedekiah’s reign, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon attacked Jerusalem with his entire army. They set up camp and built dirt ramps around the city walls.

He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, just as Jehoiakim(A) had done. It was because of the Lord’s anger that all this happened to Jerusalem and Judah,(B) and in the end he thrust them from his presence.(C)

Now Zedekiah rebelled(D) against the king of Babylon.

So in the ninth year of Zedekiah’s reign, on the tenth(E) day of the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem(F) with his whole army. They encamped outside the city and built siege works(G) all around it.(H)
