²¹ Therefore, thus says Yahweh,
“Behold, ^(A)I am ^[a]laying stumbling blocks before this people.
And they will stumble against them,
^(B)Fathers and sons together;
Neighbor and ^[b]friend will perish.”

³ Horsemen charging,
And swords flaming, and ^(A)spears flashing,
^(B)Many slain, a mass of corpses,
And ^(C)there is no end to dead bodies—
They stumble over ^[a]the dead bodies!
