⁸ The priests did not say, ‘Where is the Lord?’
    ^(A)Those who handle the law did not know me;
^(B)the shepherds^[a] transgressed against me;
    ^(C)the prophets prophesied by Baal
    and went after ^(D)things that do not profit.

¹³ The prophets will become wind;
    the word is not in them.
Thus shall it be done to them!’”

^31 (A)the prophets prophesy falsely,
    and the priests rule at their direction;
^(B)my people love to have it so,
    but what will you do when the end comes?

^13 (A)“For from the least to the greatest of them,
    everyone ^(B)is greedy for unjust gain;
and from ^(C)prophet to priest,
    everyone deals falsely.
