⁸ For whenever I speak, I cry out,
I proclaim, “Violence and destruction!”^(A)
because the word of the Lord has become for me
constant disgrace and derision.

¹⁰ The people are incapable of doing right^(A)—
this is the Lord’s declaration—
those who store up violence and destruction^(B)
in their citadels.

³ Why do You force me to look at injustice?^(A)
Why do You tolerate^[a] wrongdoing?
Oppression and violence are right in front of me.
Strife is ongoing, and conflict escalates.
