¹² “Therefore their way will be like ^(A)slippery paths to them,
They will be driven away into the ^(B)gloom and fall down in it;
For I will bring ^(C)disaster upon them,
The year of their punishment,” declares the Lord.

⁴ The best of them is like a ^(A)thorn bush,
The most upright like a ^(B)thorn hedge.
The day ^[a]when you post your watchmen,
Your ^(C)punishment is coming.
Then their ^(D)confusion will occur.
