He has gone forth from his place

Your cities will be laid waste,
Without inhabitant.

‘What is your mother? A lioness:
She lay down among the lions;
Among the young lions she nourished her cubs.
³ She brought up one of her cubs,
And ^(A)he became a young lion;
He learned to catch prey,
And he devoured men.
⁴ The nations also heard of him;
He was trapped in their pit,
And they brought him with chains to the land of ^(B)Egypt.

⁵ ‘When she saw that she waited, that her hope was lost,
She took ^(C)another of her cubs and made him a young lion.
^6 (D)He roved among the lions,
And ^(E)became a young lion;
He learned to catch prey;
He devoured men.

¹¹ Where is the dwelling of the ^(A)lions,
And the feeding place of the young lions,
Where the lion walked, the lioness and lion’s cub,
And no one made them afraid?
¹² The lion tore in pieces enough for his cubs,
^[a]Killed for his lionesses,
^(B)Filled his caves with prey,
And his dens with ^[b]flesh.
