⁹ “‘Will you steal^(A) and murder,^(B) commit adultery^(C) and perjury,^[a](D) burn incense to Baal^(E) and follow other gods^(F) you have not known,

¹² The towns of Judah and the people of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to whom they burn incense,^(A) but they will not help them at all when disaster^(B) strikes.

¹⁷ The Lord Almighty, who planted^(A) you, has decreed disaster^(B) for you, because the people of both Israel and Judah have done evil and aroused^(C) my anger by burning incense to Baal.^(D)

³ because of the evil^(A) they have done. They aroused my anger^(B) by burning incense^(C) to and worshiping other gods^(D) that neither they nor you nor your ancestors^(E) ever knew.
