9 ^[a](A)Oh, that my head were waters
And my eyes a fountain of tears,
That I might weep day and night
For those slain of the ^(B)daughter of my people!

¹⁸ Have them hurry and take up a wailing for us,
So that our ^(A)eyes may shed tears,
And our eyelids flow with water.

¹⁷ You will say this word to them,
‘^(A)Let my eyes stream down tears night and day,
And let them not cease;
For the virgin ^(B)daughter of my people has been crushed with a mighty blow,
With a sorely ^(C)infected wound.
