⁴ Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me.

³⁰ As he spake these things, many believed on him.

³¹ Jesus therefore said to those Jews that had believed him, If ye abide in my word, then are ye truly my disciples; ³² and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

³⁸ Now as they went on their way, he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. ³⁹ And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at the Lord’s feet, and heard his word. ⁴⁰ But Martha was ^[a]cumbered about much serving; and she came up to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister did leave me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. ⁴¹ But the Lord answered and said unto her, ^[b]Martha, Martha, thou art anxious and troubled about many things: ^42 [c]but one thing is needful: for Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
