¹⁷ “How often is it that ^(A)the lamp of the wicked is put out?
    That their calamity comes upon them?
    That God^[a] distributes pains in his anger?

^9 (A)The light of the righteous rejoices,
    but ^(B)the lamp of the wicked will be put out.

^20 (A)If one curses his father or his mother,
    ^(B)his lamp will be put out in utter darkness.

²⁰ for the evil man has no ^(A)future;
    ^(B)the lamp of the wicked will be put out.

²⁸ For it is you who light my ^(A)lamp;
    the Lord my God lightens my darkness.
