²³ It claps its hands^(A) in derision
    and hisses him out of his place.”^(B)

¹⁵ All who pass your way
    clap their hands at you;^(A)
they scoff^(B) and shake their heads^(C)
    at Daughter Jerusalem:^(D)
“Is this the city that was called
    the perfection of beauty,^(E)
    the joy of the whole earth?”^(F)

¹⁴ “So then, son of man, prophesy
    and strike your hands^(A) together.
Let the sword strike twice,
    even three times.
It is a sword for slaughter—
    a sword for great slaughter,
    closing in on them from every side.^(B)

¹⁷ I too will strike my hands^(A) together,
    and my wrath^(B) will subside.
I the Lord have spoken.^(C)”
