²² He laughs at dread and is not dismayed;
And he does not turn back from the sword.
²³ The quiver rattles against him,
The flashing spear and javelin.
²⁴ With shaking and rage he ^[a]races over the ground,
And he does not ^[b]stand still at the sound of the trumpet.
²⁵ As often as the trumpet sounds he says, ‘Aha!’
And he scents the battle from afar,
And the thunder of the commanders and the shout of war.

³ The shields of ^[a]his mighty men are colored red,
The valiant men are dressed in ^(A)[b]scarlet,
The chariots are enveloped in ^[c]flashing steel
^[d]When he is set up to march,
And the cypress ^(B)spears are brandished.
⁴ The ^(C)chariots race madly in the streets;
They rush wildly in the ^[e]squares;
Their appearance is like torches;
They dash to and fro like lightning flashes.
