¹⁶ To him belong strength and insight;^(A)
    both deceived and deceiver are his.^(B)

¹⁷ He leads rulers away stripped^(A)
    and makes fools of judges.^(B)

¹² Where are your wise men^(A) now?
    Let them show you and make known
what the Lord Almighty
    has planned^(B) against Egypt.
¹³ The officials of Zoan^(C) have become fools,
    the leaders of Memphis^(D) are deceived;
the cornerstones^(E) of her peoples
    have led Egypt astray.
¹⁴ The Lord has poured into them
    a spirit of dizziness;^(F)
they make Egypt stagger in all that she does,
    as a drunkard staggers^(G) around in his vomit.
