Joel 1:12-14
Christian Standard Bible
12 The grapevine is dried up,(A)
and the fig tree is withered;
the pomegranate,(B) the date palm,(C) and the apple(D)—
all the trees of the orchard—have withered.
Indeed, human joy has dried up.(E)
13 Dress in sackcloth and lament,(F) you priests;(G)
wail,(H) you ministers of the altar.
Come and spend the night in sackcloth,(I)
you ministers of my God,
because grain and drink offerings
are withheld from the house of your God.
14 Announce a sacred fast;(J)
proclaim a solemn assembly!
Gather the elders(K)
and all the residents of the land
at the house of the Lord your God,(L)
and cry out to the Lord.(M)

12 The vine is dried up
and the fig tree is withered;(A)
the pomegranate,(B) the palm and the apple[a] tree—
all the trees of the field—are dried up.(C)
Surely the people’s joy
is withered away.
A Call to Lamentation
13 Put on sackcloth,(D) you priests, and mourn;
wail, you who minister(E) before the altar.
Come, spend the night in sackcloth,
you who minister before my God;
for the grain offerings and drink offerings(F)
are withheld from the house of your God.
14 Declare a holy fast;(G)
call a sacred assembly.
Summon the elders
and all who live in the land(H)
to the house of the Lord your God,
and cry out(I) to the Lord.(J)
