¹⁵ just as ^(A)the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and ^(B)I lay down My life for the sheep.

¹⁷ For this reason the Father loves Me, because I ^(A)lay down My life so that I may take it back. ^18 (B)No one has taken it away from Me, but I ^(C)lay it down on My own. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it back. ^(D)This commandment I received from My Father.”

^13 (A)Greater love has no one than this, that a person will ^(B)lay down his life for his friends.

¹⁶ We know love by this, that ^(A)He laid down His life for us; and ^(B)we ought to lay down our lives for the ^(C)brothers and sisters.
