^24 (A)The Jews then surrounded Him and began saying to Him, “How long ^[a]will You keep us in suspense? If You are the ^[b]Christ, tell us ^(B)plainly.”

¹⁴ So Jesus then said to them plainly, “Lazarus died,

²⁵ “These things I have spoken to you in ^(A)figures of speech; ^(B)an hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father.

²⁹ His disciples *said, “See, now You are speaking plainly and are not ^[a]using any ^(A)figure of speech.

²⁰ Jesus answered him, “I ^(A)have spoken openly to the world; I always ^(B)taught in ^[a]synagogues and ^(C)in the temple area, where all the Jews congregate; and I said nothing in secret.
