John 12:40-42
International Children’s Bible
40 “He has blinded their eyes.
He has closed their minds.
This is so that they will not see with their eyes
nor understand in their minds.
This is so they will not
come back to me and be forgiven.” Isaiah 6:10
41 Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about him.
42 But many people believed in Jesus, even many of the leaders. But because of the Pharisees, they did not say that they believed in him. They were afraid that they would be put out of the synagogue.

New International Version
40 “He has blinded their eyes
and hardened their hearts,
so they can neither see with their eyes,
nor understand with their hearts,
nor turn—and I would heal them.”[a](A)
41 Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus’ glory(B) and spoke about him.(C)
42 Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in him.(D) But because of the Pharisees(E) they would not openly acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue;(F)
