John 14:10-15:11

¹⁰ Do you not believe that ^(A)I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you ^(B)I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. ¹¹ Believe me that ^(C)I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else ^(D)believe on account of the works themselves.

¹² “Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(E)whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I ^(F)am going to the Father. ^13 (G)Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that ^(H)the Father may be glorified in the Son. ^14 (I)If you ask me^[a] anything in my name, I will do it.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

^15 (J)“If you love me, you will ^(K)keep my commandments. ¹⁶ And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another ^(L)Helper,^[b] to be with you forever, ¹⁷ even ^(M)the Spirit of truth, ^(N)whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and ^(O)will be^[c] in you.

¹⁸ “I will not leave you as orphans; ^(P)I will come to you. ^19 (Q)Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but ^(R)you will see me. ^(S)Because I live, you also will live. ^20 (T)In that day you will know that ^(U)I am in my Father, and ^(V)you in me, and ^(W)I in you. ^21 (X)Whoever has my commandments and ^(Y)keeps them, he it is who loves me. And ^(Z)he who loves me ^(AA)will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and ^(AB)manifest myself to him.” ^22 (AC)Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it ^(AD)that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” ²³ Jesus answered him, ^(AE)“If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and ^(AF)we will come to him and ^(AG)make our home with him. ²⁴ Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And ^(AH)the word that you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me.

²⁵ “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. ²⁶ But the ^(AI)Helper, the Holy Spirit, ^(AJ)whom the Father will send in my name, ^(AK)he will teach you all things and ^(AL)bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. ^27 (AM)Peace I leave with you; ^(AN)my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. ^(AO)Let not your hearts be troubled, neither ^(AP)let them be afraid. ^28 (AQ)You heard me say to you, ^(AR)‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I ^(AS)am going to the Father, for ^(AT)the Father is greater than I. ²⁹ And ^(AU)now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. ³⁰ I will no longer talk much with you, for ^(AV)the ruler of this world is coming. ^(AW)He has no claim on me, ³¹ but I do ^(AX)as the Father has commanded me, ^(AY)so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.

I Am the True Vine

15 “I am the ^(AZ)true vine, and my Father is ^(BA)the vinedresser. ^2 (BB)Every branch in me that does not bear fruit ^(BC)he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, ^(BD)that it may bear more fruit. ³ Already ^(BE)you are clean ^(BF)because of the word that I have spoken to you. ^4 (BG)Abide ^(BH)in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. ⁵ I am the vine; ^(BI)you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that ^(BJ)bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. ⁶ If anyone does not abide in me ^(BK)he is thrown away like a branch and withers; ^(BL)and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. ⁷ If ^(BM)you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ^(BN)ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. ^8 (BO)By this my Father is glorified, that you ^(BP)bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. ^9 (BQ)As the Father has loved me, ^(BR)so have I loved you. Abide in my love. ^10 (BS)If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as ^(BT)I have kept ^(BU)my Father's commandments and abide in his love. ¹¹ These things I have spoken to you, ^(BV)that my joy may be in you, and that ^(BW)your joy may be full.
